Melbourne Tigers Basketball Program
In 2018, we ran our first ever Girls & Young Women’s Leadership Program for Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club. Over the program we focus on authentic leadership, effective communication, resilience, mindfullness and much more. The girls had an amazing opportunity to hear from Louella Tomlinson, Womens National Basketball League Player (WNBL), and Monique Contii, Womens National Basketball League Player (WNBL) and Richmond AFLW Player, about what it is like to be an elite athlete.
Your Community Bank Sports Leadership Program
The Your Community Bank Sports Leadership Program funded by the Rye Dromana Rosebud Community Bendigo Bank Branches was a sports leadership development program aimed to develop the all-round athlete focusing on leadership and resilience on and off the field. 2017 we ran the first ever Your Community Bank Sports Leadership Program where 32 young leaders from the Mornington Peninsula Region graduated from the program with majority of the Skippers describing the program as “life-changing” and “best experience of my life”.
Indigenous Sports Leadership Program
In 2019, Game Changers received support from Ron Barassi, Primary Care Connect in Shepparton and Berry Street to deliver the 2019 Indigenous Sports Leadership Program. Initially focusing on Rumbalara Football and Netball Club, the program gained attraction from Shepparton and beyond. Ultimately it had 17 Indigenous participants, 5 Indigenous leaders from Rumbalara Football Netball Club and the Korin Gamadji Institute as well as the Game Changers team. The program was designed to upskill participants to deal with life’s challenges and to develop their leadership, both in sport and in life.
Whittlesea City Council Program
These programs saw 35 young sporting leaders from a range of sports and backgrounds develop their communication, resilience and leadership skills. After the program participants were asked how the program impacted their leadership, “It made me more confident in myself. I learnt to have a go and give 100% effort.” “I have learnt how to be a more positive leader.” “I now get involved in group activities and share my ideas”
Game Changers flagship program, Captains Camp, saw 29 young leaders from across the state partake in this 5 month transformational leadership experience. Participants developed authentic communication, emotional and social intelligence, public speaking skills, sports psychology skills and leadership. This program involved mentors, local clubs and other community stakeholders to support this next generation of sports captains.
Essendon Football Club Camp
Across 2017 & 2018 Game Changers partnered with the Essendon Football Club to lead five Next Generation Academy Leadership Programs. All of these programs were incredibly successful, with the participants becoming closer with other players from within their leagues. The focus was leadership and performance on the sporting field in addition to equality and inclusiveness.
Williamstown Football Club Community Leadership Series
Williamstown Junior Football Club is taking the lead in supporting young people and their families to reach their full potential in an impactful and engaging program. The Leadership Series includes four 120-minute workshops tailored for teenagers and their parents. Each workshop is designed for different age groups.
